MSIE is committed to increasing contraceptive use and expanding choice
MSIE has been one of the most important private sector contributors to contraceptive use offering women and couples modern FP methods. It is MSIE’s principle that every woman and couple should be counseled on all FP methods and voluntarily provided with a service and product of their choice.
Between 2005 and 2012, the number of women in Ethiopia using family planning provided by
MSIE grew from just over 50,000 to more 360,000.
Our programme offers women all the main forms of modern contraception – short term family planning – condoms, pills, injectibles – as well as long term and permanent methods – IUDs, Implants, Vasectomy and Tube ligation. It is MSIE’s principle that every woman and couple should be counseled on all family planning methods and voluntarily provided with a service and product of their choice.
Over the past decade, MSIE has been particularly influential in increasing access to long acting and permanent methods (LAPMs). Our focus on LAPMs is crucial to efforts to expand choice on a national level.
